The building looks for two objectives:
-Offer to Hellin the opportunity to organize events of a larger scale, so to expand their area of influence.
-Becoming a social reference for its position and impact in the new district in which it is situated, with heavy use by citizens.
To achieve this, we´ve generated the project basing on urban analysis and a proposal of use and program.
The site is located in a new urban Ensanche, in which streets cross two non-parallel frames and different building plans. We have decided to divide the site in two parts. We place the building on the western edge of the site so as to define the boundaries of the adjacent green area and highlight it as the end of the perspective, emphasizing the aspect of public building. The rest of the site becomes a public open space.
Hellin counts already an auditorium,a theater and sports areas. Therefore, our building has to be able to host different events (fairs, parades, conventions, etc …) or events of larger scale (prepared for more than 2,000 spectators and an open area of over 2700 m2). To get this flexibility, we think, that the ground floor can function as a single open space or compartmentalized, thanks to mobile enclosures, in 5 different rooms, with the aim of achieving the maximum utilization of the palace.
